Alligator

[adiht fruman]

Ic andwendede "alligator" on "ā-lag-etere" (literally "out-of-lake/sea-eater"). Willcume ic þec on míne brúcendsídan! 03:52, 3 Þrimilcemōnaþ 2010 (UTC)

Eac "gargeal" on "gārig-ela" (literally "spiky/pointy causers of pain/trouble"). Willcume ic þec on míne brúcendsídan! 04:25, 3 Þrimilcemōnaþ 2010 (UTC)
Not bad. I had thought of æclaca-āðexe, monster lizard, unless that is too much like a dinosaur. Or ægægleca.
If we but knew the word for "crocodile" we could use that as the two, really are the same thing. Hogweard 19:32, 3 Þrimilcemōnaþ 2010 (UTC)
Credit goes to my friend for the idea, I modified his idea into water-dragon, as they live in all forms of water (initially he'd thought of river-dragon). Perhaps fendraca (swamp-dragon) for 'gators (or at least as one possible term). — ᚹᚩᛞᛖᚾᚻᛖᛚᛗ (ᚷᛖᛋᛈᚱᛖᚳ) 19:39, 3 Þrimilcemōnaþ 2010 (UTC)
