Orthography
[adiht fruman]There's currently warfare about orthography on here. Do not perform any changes in spellings until this issue settles. Your stylistic changes to Hƿǣte have been undone. Please dont stir things up any worse than they are. —Ƿōdenhelm 21:23, 3 Se Æfterra Gēola 2009 (UTC)
- My bad. Just trying to help out here. Open warfare, huh? Where's the battlefield? --CalebGuitarman 21:24, 3 Se Æfterra Gēola 2009 (UTC)
- It's all good man, no harm done. I think that currently, we're potentially leaning towards a compromise on things, soooooo hopefully they'll iron out. If you're interested in seeing the rivers of blood, here ya go. —Ƿōdenhelm 21:26, 3 Se Æfterra Gēola 2009 (UTC)
- Anyone allowed to vote in this? --CalebGuitarman 21:31, 3 Se Æfterra Gēola 2009 (UTC)
- Absolutely! Uurad 21:48, 3 Se Æfterra Gēola 2009 (UTC)
At risk of being accused of trying to sway the favor of the vote, I encourage the fact that compromise allows for prosperity. Splitting into sides (whichever side you'd take) causes warfare. —Ƿōdenhelm 21:57, 3 Se Æfterra Gēola 2009 (UTC)
- I'm gonna check it out. I don't want to see this wiki die because of a feud here. --CalebGuitarman 22:01, 3 Se Æfterra Gēola 2009 (UTC)
- As I have taken pains to point out, this "compromise" is between Wódenhelm's aesthetic admiration for the letter wynn on the one hand, and a coherent data set which can be searched easily. Wódenhelm's view will produce a mishmash of radically different spellings (the handful of centre/center spellings in Modern English is not analogous) which make the Wicipǽdia rather pointless. - I checked, and the best way we can get this done is likely for each user to edit his own fonts, and create his own monobook for himself. I was reading that another person already made that suggestion. I can appreciate he wants to keep his wynn for authenticity, but I don't think having 3 versions of each page is going to help us out as a wiki. It will confuse searches of the sight and confuse people more. I'll look at what options there are for font editing, but if I was to replace 'w' with 'wynn' in my computer's version of Times, and call it 'times oe', and set my monobook to use that font, all my w's would become 'wynn's. What do you think? --CalebGuitarman 19:24, 27 Solmōnaþ 2009 (UTC)
- I think you're acting under james' orders, or are a sockpuppet thereof. It's funny how all of you swarm onto here all at once with the very same objective. Perhaps this has something to do with it. — ᚹᚩᛞᛖᚾᚻᛖᛚᛗ 22:04, 27 Solmōnaþ 2009 (UTC)
