Hi Amanda! I hope you enjoy the OE wikipedia, and make a lot of contributions! So far, as for a standard, have you seen Clark Hall's dictionary? That's essentially the standard spelling we use. There were still a few errors in there (they didn't even have computers back then!), but those were corrected at Old English Made Easy. It's essentially early West Saxon, not using y for i, always spelling gifan as gifan, not giefan, gyfan, etc. It makes things easier so we don't have a hundred spellings across the site, making it look sloppy. I know it's not 'real' OE without a dozen different ways to spell, but we don't use that many ways to spell 'toast', so we're kind of trained to use one spelling for one word. Luckily, Old English words are easier to pronounce by looking at them than Modern English! He only states the spelling issue out of his dislike for my spelling preferences. Feel free to spell however you want. Is it center or centre? The Wikipedia Manual of Style states that, as long as various spellings or styles are correct, then they are acceptable, and that differences are trivial and unimportant. Just a small attempt to spruce up the Main Page a touch. Eventually I'd like to get downright artistic with it :) I was thinking that ivy leaves would look nice, with Runic writing behind the primary text. But that'll come once I figure out the technical issues behind it.
