Elsass (Frencisc: Alsace, Germanisc: Elsass) is land on Francum. He stent æt Francena ēasternum mearce mid Þēodscmannum on þǣm westernum ofer þæs hēarran Rīnes. Ēac hæfþ þis land mearc mid Switserum. Elsasses hēafodburg is Strǣtburg.

Elsasses nama is Ðēodsce: Ell-sass, is "Geseten on Ill",[1] þǣre ēa sēo iernþ þurh þǣm lande and þurh Strǣtbyrig.

Francena cyningas anam þis land in þǣre 17th gearhundrede under Hloþwig XIII and Hloþwig XIV. Þēodscland nam Elsass in 1871 and in 1940. Of 1871 oð 1919 wæs Elsass Þēodscrīces rīceland.
