I see Wendelsǽ given everywhere as the name of the Mediterranean, but should it really be that? It means literally, se dom in Tunisia, they were there for all of fifty years or so. Does that really justify getting the name of the whole sea?

I'm just wondering if any Englisc speakers called it Middelsǽ. That would be the logical Englisc name, and is mostly consistent with other Germanic languages (e.g. German Mittelmeer). --Saforrest 01:09, 9 Nov 2004 (UTC)

We have plenty of textual evidence for Wendelsæ. Orosius has it repeatedly and consistently. Elene and other textsa have it too. In Old High German we have Wentil-seo. I know of no alternative in any text. We cannot know whether the name Wendelsæ comes from the Vandals, but there is no doubt about the use of the name.

Hi, I just noticed that the picture's caption reads "onlicnes be satelit", (lit. "likeness by satelite"). Since the word satelite is in the dative case (used with the preposition "be"), I think "satelit" should have an "e" at the end.
